Guidelines for Borrowing and Use

• This agreement is good for one year from the date of signing.
• Items lent out by PLD through LOTs collection must be checked out and returned to the Information Desk during library hours.
• A valid PLD card with fines not exceeding $10 is required at the time of check out.
• A valid government issued ID with picture and current address must be presented. If the address on ID card and account do not match, you will be asked to validate your account by bringing proof of address. PLD will retain a photocopy of your ID and this agreement for the duration of the lending year.
• Borrowers must be 18 years old or older.
• Borrowers must have a current phone number and email on file to check out items in the LOTs collection.
• Borrowers must read, understand, and sign this Agreement before they check out a LOTs item.
• The LOTs item must be checked out by the cardholder.

Proper Care and Use

• Return LOTs item in the condition it was received.
• As with any LOTs item, use care when handling.
• Return the LOTs item with all parts and components.
• Follow all manufacture instruction or directions and any
• applicable laws.
• Any violation of the above will result in a written violation, which can result in the termination of LOTs usage.

Liability

• The borrower is solely responsible for the LOTs items and will be billed for reasonable repair, cleaning, or replacement costs associated with damage or loss of LOTs items, and/or peripherals due neglect or abuse.
• The responsibility to protect against loss is the borrower's.
• PLD is not responsible for the loss of any data while using this equipment.

Time Limits and Availability

• A LOTs item may be borrowed for two (2) weeks, and may NOT be renewed.
• Borrower may borrow only one (1) LOTs item at a time.
• Borrower understands that returned LOTs items will go through a return/review process and therefore must wait until item is made available before Borrower can request or check out another LOTs item.
• Bookmobile Library of Things items must be picked up and checked out at a Bookmobile stop.

WARNING: Penal Code 490.5(a) provides that upon conviction for petty theft involving a book or other library materials taken from a library facility, a person shall be punished by a mandatory fine of not less than $50 and not more than one $1,000 for each such violation; and may also be punished by imprisonment in the county jail, not exceeding six months, or both such fine and imprisonment.
