The Hangar Makerspace

Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy in our Hangar Makerspace. Enjoy a variety of themed holiday crafts, open-ended/general crafting time, sensory play, and more! Each week features something new for all ages. Materials will be provided for themed crafts, and general crafting times will have a select number of materials available for patrons to use.

Pokémon Day Celebration

All week long, stop by the library and strike your best Trainer pose at our Pokémon photo op! Snap a pic with your favorite characters, show off your Poké-spirit, and share the fun with friends and family. Whether you're a seasoned Trainer or just starting your journey, this is the perfect chance to capture a legendary moment!

MakeYour Own Pokéball

Celebrate Pokémon day at the library by making your own custom Pokéball out of EVA foam. Materials will be provided. Space is limited. Entry tickets will be issued starting at 12:30 p.m. the day of the program. Open to ages 12 and up. Children younger than 12 must be assisted by an adult.

The Superhero in Reel-Time: Comic Drawing Workshop

Explore comic and graphic novel drawing styles and learn how to draw your own comic superhero at this hands-on art workshop led by Marvel Comics artist Jerry DeCaire. Supplies will be provided. Entry tickets available at 12:30 p.m. the day of the program. Open to ages 9+, teens, and adults. 

Sewing 101

Get started with this hands-on overview of the sewing machine, including winding a bobbin, sewing a straight line, and other stitches. Materials will be provided for a starter project. Entry tickets will be issued starting at 12:30 p.m. the day of the program. Open to teens and adults. 

Get Hooked! Crochet and Knitting Circle

Do you love fiber arts? Do you have a tough pattern you can’t crack? Or do you just want to spend time with people who love what you love? Bring your current projects and relax at the library’s crochet and knitting circle. Adults only for this program. 

Supplies, projects, and formal instruction are not provided by the library, so please bring your own crochet hooks, knitting needles, and yarn.

Join us for a special week of Japanese-themed crafts celebrating Japan’s rich cultural heritage. Commemorate George Takei’s tale of courage with us with the Eisner Award-winning graphic novel, They Called Us Enemy.
