Tell Us What to Buy books mailed to you! 

Tell Us What to Buy is a program funded by the Placentia Library District. Get books mailed directly to you! It's free and books ship directly to your home from Amazon!   

Who is eligible? 

• Must have an active Placentia Library card.  
• Must be in good standing with less than $10 in fees.  
• Patrons can only have 3 Tell Us What to Buy books checked out at one time.  

What items are eligible? 

• Only books not physically owned by Placentia Library.
• Must be a new item, available through Amazon Prime.  
• No textbooks, spiral-bound books, or items over $35.  
• A library cataloging record must be available, through our vendor.  
• Pre-order titles are not eligible.   
• Three  requests per month, this is subject to budget.  

How do I request a Tell Us What to Buy Book?

• Check the Placentia Library catalog to make sure we don’t already own the item. 
• If the item meets these requirements, fill out the request form below completely.   
• If we order the item, it will ship directly to your home. The book will be checked out to your library account for six weeks from the day the order is placed with Amazon.   
• Enjoy the book and return to a staff member at the Information Desk and let them know it is a Tell Us What to Buy book. You will receive a receipt. 

If the item is not returned to a staff member, it will not be removed from your account. You will be responsible for the whole cost of the item.   

What if my item isn’t purchased through Tell Us What to Buy? 

• Items not purchased through Tell Us What to Buy will be sent to librarians for consideration. Staff will review your request and purchase items based on our collection development policy.      
• If purchased, the item will be placed on hold on your library account. You will receive a text or email when the item is ready for pickup.   
• If your requested item is not purchased by the library, we may be able to obtain the book for you via interlibrary loan.  Please contact the Information Desk at (714) 528-1906 or information@placentialibrarydistrict.ca.gov for details.
